Spain Surpassed China After 3,434 Death Were Recorded Due To COVID-19

COVID-19’s overall casualty figures in Spain surpassed China when it recorded 3,434 deaths on Wednesday, media reported.

The country’s government said 738 new deaths were reported within 24 hours yesterday.

Spain is now entering its 11th day of curfew but is still struggling to control the infection of the outbreak that has already infected some 47,610 people.

The Spanish army on Tuesday reportedly asked North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to assist after both casualties and new infections continued to show improvement.

The country, like many other countries, is currently facing obstacles such as test kits, drugs, and limited PPE.

NATO in a statement said Spain called for ‘international aid’ as well as medical assistance to prevent the outbreak from further infecting civilians and the military in the country.
The help requested is 450,000 respirators, 500,000 quick test kits, 500 ventilators, and 1.5 million face masks.

Meanwhile, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Tuesday reportedly sought Parliament’s approval to extend a two-week curfew, until April 11.
