New Zealand Could Return To Normal Life Starting Next Week

New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern will decide on Monday whether the country was ready to return to normal life that is alert level 1.

Before this, New Zealand has been in lockdown for almost 2 months after Ardern imposed a strict level 4 lockdown. The lockdown has made many businesses were closed and forced people to stay at home to prevent the COVID-19 spread.

According to Ardern, she will decide on Monday to see if there are any changes, like the removal of restrictions on the number of people in bars and at social gatherings, will make an increase in cases.

“If it hasn’t, then we will be in a good position to move,” said Ardern.

“Under level 1 there is no requirement for physical distancing or limits on the number of people allowed in places like bars, clubs, churches, and sports venues,” added Ardern.

She also said that for now there are no immediate plans to reopen New Zealand’s border.

Yesterday, New Zealand has no new cases confirmed for the 12th consecutive day with just one active case. Until now, New Zealand has reported a total of 1,504 cases and 22 deaths.
