“I am no hero, but I’m proud of being a train driver and the essential role we are playing during the coronavirus crisis,” said Narguis Horsford to the British Vogue.

“Our services are vitally important to keep London moving throughout these unprecedented times and maintaining safety,” added Horsford.

As for midwife Rachel Millar, she said that one of the toughest moments of the pandemic for her was when her bike was stolen. “Within a few hours, a friend who also works at Homerton Hospital had raised over £500 (RM2675.50) online to help get me back on the road,” said Millar.

“Another colleague tweeted the story and within an hour, a local company had donated a brand new electric bike. It’s just one example of the community support and kindness that I’ve seen over the past few months,” she added.

While supermarket assistant Anisa Omar said that by going to work, she even put herself in risk but it is worth it. “It’s nice being a key worker. My job was not something that was that big of a deal before. But now it’s like we’re important,” said Anita Omar.

As stated by Vogue’s editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, the three of them represent the millions of people in the United Kingdom who risking their lives by putting on their uniforms and helping people even in the midst of the pandemic.
