9 Cosmetic Products Found To Contain Poison – Ministry of Health

The National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA), Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) is urging the public to refrain from buying and using nine cosmetic products that had been found to contain scheduled poison.

Products containing hydroquinone, tretinoin, and diphenhydramine are classified as pharmaceutical products that require registration with the Drug Control Authority (DCA) and can only be used under the advice of healthcare professionals.

Those who violate the regulation can be fined not more than RM25,000 or a maximum of three years’ imprisonment, or both, for the first offence.

For subsequent offences, the offender can be fined not more than RM50,000 or a maximum of five years’ imprisonment, or both.

Companies can be fined up to RM50,000 for the first offence and RM100,000 for subsequent offences,” he added.
