Wanting To Be Spiderman, Three Brothers Hospitalized After Allowing A ‘Black Widow’ Spider To Bite Them

Who does not love superheroes? Everyone does including kids, even though they can’t tell fiction from reality. Three brothers in Chayanta, Bolivia, were hospitalized after letting a Black Widow spider bite them, thinking they will be turned into superheroes.

The three brothers aged 8, 10, and 12 came up with the idea where they let themselves get bitten by the spider when their mother was out collecting woods. They hope after being bitten, they will have superpowers like what they have seen on the television.

The mother then returned home to find her sons crying after they were bitten by the venomous spider and quickly took them to the health center to be treated.

15 times more venomous than a rattlesnake, Black Widow spiders are reported can do serious damage and be fatal to children and the elderly.

The doctor said that the brothers suffered from muscle pains, sweating, fever, and generalized trembling and did not stop until they were treated with an effective serum.

The boys were allowed to return home after five days when their health improved, reported by The Head of Epidemiology of the Health Ministry, Virgilio Pietro.

He also urged parents to help children understand and tell fiction and reality apart because “for children everything is real, films are real, dreams could be real, and they (children) are the hope of our life.”
