Declared Free From The COVID-19 Outbreak, Wuhan Residents Celebrates Festival Of ‘Freedom’

After being declared free from the COVID-19 outbreak that struck for nearly three months, thousands of visitors flooded the pool party at Maya Beach Water Park in Wuhan, China, last week.

The festival involves an electronic dance festival complete with deejays, dancers wearing colorful costumes, and pyrotechnic performances. It is a very different picture than earlier this year when the city resembled a quiet ghost town when the curfew was carried out.

However, visitors who participated in the festival were seen not practicing social distancing and many did not wear face masks. The festival is part of the HOHA Electronic Music Festival in Happy Valley Wuhan, which starts on July 11 and will end on August 30.

Following the photos and videos of the party spread on social media sites, the average netizen criticized the people of Wuhan who seem to have forgotten the pandemic that has killed about 778,000 people worldwide so far.

Wuhan is the first city to record a positive COVID-19 case worldwide.

The COVID-19 distribution center with a population of 11 million people is also the first city in the world to implement a curfew.

The city’s curfew began to be relaxed in March and officially ended on April 8.

The city of Wuhan and Hubei province did not record any cases of local transmission for three months and were declared free of the virus in June after tests were conducted on 10 million people.

As of August 19, China recorded 89,477 positive COVID-19 cases and 4,704 deaths.
