KFC Pauses on Using “Finger Lickin’ Good” Ad Slogan During Pandemic

Coronavirus has changed how the world works. It is not only affecting the economy but also our lifestyle. We started to adapt to the new norm of wearing a face mask and practicing social distancing.

We are also now becoming more hygiene conscious. The health practicians have promoting people to pay more attention to hand-washing and the usage of hand sanitizer.

Due to that, the famous fast-food franchise, KFC is putting its slogan “Finger-Lickin’ Good” on pause. KFC said the slogan is not appropriate to use during the pandemic. KFC said that the slogan doesn’t feel right at this moment.

The company has been using the slogan for 64 years and will be paused in advertising globally. The slogan will reappear when the time is right, the company said.

KFC U.K and Ireland uploaded a short video clip on its channel showing various KFC chicken buckets with “Finger-Lickin'” phrase being blurred out.

The video clip also showed a tagline “That thing we always say? Ignore it. For now.” at the end of the clip.

The chain is taking this step as one of its recent advertisements received at least 150 complaints. The advertisement was released in the U.K. showing its famous slogan, with people licking their own fingers and their companions’ after eating the chicken.
