LATEST: Government Declares EMCO In Tawau Prison Starting Midnight Tonight

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 10 – The government has announced will enforce an administrative Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in Tawau prison from 12.01 midnight tonight.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the administrative EMCO would be enforced from Sept 11 to Sept 25.

“Family members who have inmate families are not allowed to visit (their) families. Visits are not allowed.

“The order to go in and out is also imposed. Those who are in the EMCO area are not allowed to go out, ” he said.

However, he explained that the people around Tawau and Lahad Datu do not need to worry about the increase in positive COVID-19 cases in the prisons.

“This is because they have been locked up in the prison area.

“So the opportunity for the case to be disseminated to the public is limited. ”
