New Rules In England, Fines Over RM52,000 For Breaking Quarantine

Citizens of England who are positive for COVID-19 and disobey quarantine orders will be fined up to £ 10,000 (RM52,778). Under these new measures, anyone found positive for COVID-19 and not isolated is considered to be in violation of the law and will be subject to action.

Those with low incomes and financial constraints as a result of this isolation are eligible to receive the assistance of £ 500 (RM2,634) to assist them in overcoming financial problems.

With new cases of infection multiplying every week, Prime Minister Boris Johnson says those measures are needed to control the spread of COVID-19.

The announcement was made on Saturday night, the Prime Minister said, “The best way we can fight this virus is by everyone following the rules and self-isolating if they’re at risk of passing on coronavirus.”

“People who choose to ignore the rules will face significant fines,” he added.

The new rules will take effect in England starting September 28th. Last Friday, Johnson also admitted that the second wave of COVID-19 had reached Britain and more infections would occur, this increase is completely unavoidable.

The fine will start at £ 1,000 (RM5,267) and will increase up to £ 10,000 (RM52,674) for any party who violates the rules that have been set repeatedly.

This fine is also imposed on any party that prevents others from isolating themselves, such as the employer who tells the staff to work.

Not just that, this rule also applies to any party that fails to isolate for 14 days after returning from a country with a low risk of COVID-19.

The new rules prohibit social gatherings of more than 6 people – in force. Last Friday, tough new restrictions were imposed in the North West, West Yorkshire, and the Midlands.

These measures have caused around 13.5 million UK residents to live under some form of control in dealing with the COVID-19 epidemic.
