One-Third of Population Didn’t Believe COVID-19, Kosovo Wants to Stop Disinformation

At the end of 2019, Wuhan in China became the first place for the coronavirus to spread. In just a few months, the virus has spread to many parts of the world.

Most countries that have been infected are taking various prevention steps to curb the disease. However, when the world is struggling to fight with COVID-19, there are people who believe that this pandemic is just a hoax.

In Kosovo, about one-third of the population did not believe that COVID-19 really exist. Some of them believe that the death wasn’t caused because of the disease.

More than 14,000 people in Kosovo were infected by the disease. The number of death also has increased by up to more than 500 deaths. The government is taking this matter seriously and started to implement a stricter rule for the anti-COVID.

Kosovo has a 1.8 million population and it is one of Europe’s poorest countries. It has a weak healthcare system to support the pandemic that is happening in the country. The government has let the media to record the condition of COVID patients in the hospitals to convince that COVID-19 is real.

The skepticism becomes a huge problem as conspiracy theory videos have been spread online. The government is putting efforts into stopping disinformation. This skeptic is believed to be one of the results of corruption and an unstable political situation that is happening in the country.
