‘Salt Bae’ Restaurant Closed After Failing To Meet COVID-19 Safety Regulations

A restaurant owned by a famous social media star, ‘Salt Bae’ in Boston got a lot of attention after it had to be closed for failing to comply with COVID-19 safety regulations.

The restaurant, Nusr-Et Boston, is part of a chain of steakhouses led by ‘Salt Bae’ or also known as Nusret Gökçe, a popular Turkish celebrity chef.

The steakhouse was ordered closed on Saturday just days after it opened. According to Boston’s Licensing Board, the steakhouse posed an imminent threat to public health and public safety resulting from the ongoing and repeated failure to adhere to COVID-19 public safety standards.

As reported by CNN, the city responded to the violation by ordering the restaurant to immediately stop operating and suspending its alcoholic beverage license indefinitely.

A video posted by Gökçe on Instagram recently also shows many customers lining up outside the restaurant and some of them not wearing face masks.

It is believed that the licensing board is scheduled to hold an inspection hearing for Nusr-Et Boston on Tuesday.
