The PNB 118 Merdeka, The Tallest 5th Building Will Be Listed Along With Burj Khalifa

When someone said the highest skyscraper in Malaysia, the iconic Petronas Twin Tower that is located in Kuala Lumpur would definitely pop up in everybody’s mind. Now, there would be a new addition in the listing of skyscrapers in Malaysia and that is the brand new Merdeka 118. This particular magnificent skyscraper that is still in the process of construction is predicted to be completed in the year 2021.

According to the news, when this skyscraper is done, it will be the second-highest skyscraper in the entire world after Burj Khalifa. That would be a totally amazing and also a proud moment for all Malaysians. It is such a wonderful achievement for Malaysia to be having all these kinds of technologies and expertise until we are able to make this ambitious dream of having higher skyscraper come true.

This majestic skyscraper is developed by the largest asset management company in Malaysia and that is PNB (Permodalan Nasional Berhad). Fun fact about this skyscraper, the design of this Merdeka 118 is based on the silhouette of the image of Tunku Abdul Rahman when he raised his hand to yell “Merdeka” on 31st August 1957. Because of that, the spires used to build this skyscraper are arranged according to the creative design.

Let’s get into the details of this skyscraper. The surrounding of it is covered with glasses from the bottom to the top and they are arranged specifically to produce a crystal liked shape. The basic base of this skyscraper that shaped into a diamond is from the patterns of “Kain Songket Melayu”. The various sizes of triangular shapes on the surface of it symbolize the diversity of culture in Malaysia.

The whole building of Merdeka 118 is built in three phases according to plan and that is:

1) The 118 stories above ground and 5 stories below ground of the building itself, 87 elevators, 30 apartments and also the 202 hotel rooms.

2) The mall and also the recreation park.

3) The 3 residential towers around the main building of Merdeka 118.

The amenities available in this skyscraper are such as the lookout tower, sky lobby, restaurant, VIP lounge and many other facilities. During the night time, this skyscraper would becomes even more beautiful when it will be lighted up with a lot of light strips that will glow and move from side to side. This feature will give the skyscraper a different kind of special effect lighting and it will make Merdeka 118 appear more futuristic compared to the other buildings in Kuala Lumpur.
