These 5 Buildings Are Among The Most Beautiful Post Office Buildings In The World

When you think of a magnificent building, you may imagine some cultural landmarks that reflect beauty, history, and art. But, have you ever thought that you could find those qualities in a post office building?

Through its distinctive history, the post office can be said to be among some of the most stunning buildings. Although most have been shut down or destroyed, there is no denying that some are still functioning until today.

According to the Insider, here are some of the five most beautiful post offices from around the world:

5) Saigon Central Post Office – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

The Saigon Central Post Office was inspired by Gothic, Renaissance, and French colonial designs and features a bright exterior with white décor, complemented by curved windows framed with green lids.

Inside the post office, you will find loop arches, marble floors, and large portraits of Ho Chi Minh. Not only that, but the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon is also located next door so that two stunning buildings can all be seen in one trip.

4) Adelaide General Post Office – Adelaide, Australia

The post office was the result of an architectural competition won in 1866 by Edmund Wright and Edward Woods. It was the tallest building in Adelaide in the 20th century and has played an important role in the city’s history.

The building is made in the Anglo-Italian style and is surrounded by wrought-iron gates. It continues to function as a post office and city landmark.

3) Grande Poste D’Alger – Algiers, Algeria

This post office can be compared to a grand palace. As one of the most iconic monuments in the Algerian capital, this post office building is unlike any other building in the area.

The entrance is impressive, especially when you step below the arch. This is a visible site with stunning architectural ceilings, marble staircases, three arc entrances, and an upper gallery.

Near the entrance, you can find a well-decorated post box that you may want to check.

2) Palacio Postal – Mexico City, Mexico

The Palacio Postal is located at the center of Mexico City. The elegant architecture of a building over 100 years old is unlike any other building.

On the outside, the front of the building is decorated with curved windows, gargoyles, bronze lamps, and detailed clock stands, just above the main entrance.

It is said that the building took five years to build. Inside the building, you will find marble floors and large stairs with copper and bronze fences all under a glass roof.

1) Palazzo Delle Poste – Palermo, Sicily, Italy

Built during the 20th century, this attractive building was built to accommodate the great needs of the city’s residents. The exterior stands out with high columns and orange backgrounds that you can see between them.

The interior is equally beautiful, decorated with various marbles and colorful sculptures by futurist artists. Back in 2017, the building opened its doors to visitors as part of an art initiative.

Also, a statue of St. Christopher stands tall to the left of the building, and five canvases by Benedetta Cappa Marinetti are placed within its walls.
