JPJ Shows 12 Steps To ‘Cut’ Safely On The Road When Changing Lanes

Ever wonder when you have to overtake a vehicle in front because they are driving too slowly or dangerously? Of course, you all must have experienced it. For your information, we also need to cut if a vehicle wants to change lanes.

However, if the cutting method is wrong or dangerous, you may be the main cause of an accident.

To prevent any untoward incidents, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has shared 12 safe cutting steps that you need to follow to ensure your way is right or otherwise.

Before you cut, there are three important things you need to know:

1. Know the speed and capabilities of your vehicle
2. Can assess the speed of the vehicle to be cut and also the traffic coming from the opposite direction.
3. Always cut in the right lane.

Here are twelve steps to cut in a safe way shared by JPJ:

1. Do you need to cut?
2. Wait
3. Look ahead
4. Look at the back
5. Give the right signal
6. Move to the right
7. Accelerate the vehicle
8. Press the horn (If necessary)
9. Signal to the left
10. Move left
11. Turn off the signal
12. Return to the original speed

Remember that if you are hesitant to cut, do not pass. Wait until you are completely sure it is safe to cut.
