LA Dodgers Win First World Series Since 1988

To seal the victory, Corey Seager gave LA the lead and Mookie Betts hit a home run in the eighth inning, giving himself the title of the series ‘Most Valuable Player’.

Dodgers third baseman, Justin Turner, was tested positive for COVID-19 midway through the game. He was withdrawn.

On Twitter, Justin had tweeted about him not feeling any of the symptoms even though he was tested positive. Nevertheless, he was happy for his team and wished he could be out there to celebrate with them. Though, he was later found taking a picture with the team in celebratory for their win, despite everything.

In the Dodgers’ third World Series appearance in four years, beaten by the Houston Astros in 2017 and the Boston Red Sox in 2018, they have finally had their win since the 1988 World Series.

“This is surreal. We’ve had our hearts broken so many times and this group has worked so hard. There’s a ton of emotion.” Austin Barnes said.

Seager then hit a ground ball to first, with Betts diving to beat the throw home and put the Dodgers 2-1 ahead, with his homer sealing the victory.

Out of 48,000, only 11,000 fans were allowed into the Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas. This was the first neutral venue to host the World Series, plus a shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
