MOH Has Made Preparations To Face The Increasing COVID-19 Cases In Sabah

All Malaysians must have known that the number of COVID-19 cases in Sabah is increasing. Yesterday, the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) reported a total of 282 new cases in Sabah.

To face the increase in COVID-19 cases in the state, the MOH has made some thorough preparations. Here are some preparations made by the MOH to treat COVID-19 patients in Sabah:

1) A total of 6,795 beds are available:
– 2,820 beds placed in MOH hospital (36% usage rate)
– 3,975 beds placed in Quarantine & Low-Risk Center (29% usage rate)

2) ICU beds and Ventilators are also provided:
– 497 ICU beds available (6% usage rate)
– A total of 1,505 ventilators are provided (37% usage rate)

3) 6 Specialist hospitals that treat COVID-19 patients, namely:
– Queen Elizabeth Hospital (HQE)
– Sabah Women and Children’s Hospital (HWKKS)
– Tawau Hospital
– Lahad Datu Hospital
– Duchess Of Kent Hospital (HDOK) Sandakan
– Keningau Hospital

4) Additional wards have been opened for this hospital:
– Likas Sports Complex Building (HQE)
– Tawau Sports Complex Building (Tawau Hospital)
– Tawau Arena Hall, Tawau Prison Complex and Malaysian Health Ministry Training Institute Building (ILKKM)
– Dewan Tun Hj Mustapha (Lahad Datu Hospital)
– Dewan Rafflesia (ILKKM), PPR Batu Putih (Duchess Of Kent Hospital, Sandakan)

“The MOH has also sent staff from various service schemes such as medical experts, medical officers, assistant medical officers and trained nurses to assist JKN Sabah,” said the MOH through their official Facebook page.

“They are placed in hospitals, especially in Lahad Datu, Semporna and Tawau in addition to assisting with field duties,” added MOH.
