Two Job Portals Launched Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

GEORGE TOWN, Nov 18 — Two online job portals have been launched today in an effort to reduce the unemployment rate in Malaysia due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow today said job seekers, especially youths, are encouraged to submit their resumes to the newly launched job portals, OperatorPengeluaran.my and Technicians.my.

“The two new job portals are designed for manufacturing operators and technicians and for those in the industry to find jobs and for employers to select the right people for the vacancies,” he said in a press conference here.

He also said more industry-focused job portals and apps are in the works to cater to the workforce across Penang and the whole country.

“To those from other industries like hospitality, retail and creative arts… we have not forgotten you,” he added.

Meanwhile, Pink Label Conferences & Events Sdn Bhd director Yvonne Toh, who also attended the press conference, said the job portals are created to be user-friendly, efficient and convenient for both employers and candidates.

“For OperatorPengeluaran.my, we are targeting to have at least 20,000 unemployed Malaysians to be employed by the first quarter of 2021 (Q1Y2021),” she said.

On the other hand, Goche Corporation Sdn Bhd director Eugene Goh said that training and upskilling programmes are provided for candidates who are interested to be technicians, but do not have any knowledge or background in the field.

“Under the collaborative effort with the Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC), the training and upskilling programmes for candidates will be tailored according to needs of the employers,” he added.
