NASA’s Perseverance Rover Gives Its First High-Definition Look Around Mars

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has released an amazing panoramic view of the Perseverance landing site on the planet Mars.

The panoramic view shows the Jezero Crater gap which was the site of the scout’s landing last week, in addition to the delta banks of the past river.

Images are taken using a 360-degree rotating camera at Perseverance. The vehicle also has a zoomable camera and can record high-definition images and videos.

According to NASA, the panoramic view involves 142 separate images combined together on earth.

“We’re nestled right in a sweet spot, where you can see different features similar in many ways to features found by Spirit, Opportunity, and Curiosity at their landing sites,” said Jim Bell of Arizona State University’s School of Earth and Space Exploration.

Last Monday, NASA also released the first audio recording taken from Mars, which was recorded by a microphone on Perseverance.

In addition, NASA also released a video of the reconnaissance landing, which is now embarking on a mission to find traces of past life on Mars.
