“We Take Note Of EMA’s Announcement On The AstraZeneca Vaccine” – Khairy Jamaluddin

The European Medical Agency (EMA) has recently reported regarding the latest findings on the COVID 19 vaccine which is known as AstraZeneca that said to be linked to a rare case of blood clotting to the recipients of the vaccine.

Following the findings, the Coordinating Minister of the National COVID 19 Immunization Program that is Khairy Jamaluddin said that Malaysia will discuss the matter before deciding whether the vaccine can be used in this country or not and he mentioned about it through his tweet.

He stated in the tweet he posted, “@JKJAVMY will deliberate on the matter and decide if we will go ahead with using AZ in our portfolio of vaccines. Safety is paramount”. Commenting on a tweet from EMA, through its executive director that is Emer Cooke said, after in -depth analysis, a conclusion could be reached that blood clotting cases were reported to occur after AstraZeneca vaccine injection which it ‘should have listed as a possible side effect of the vaccine’.

EMA through its official website two days ago said it found there was a possible link between the vaccine and a ‘very rare case involving blood clots with low blood platelets’. Nevertheless, it also emphasizes on the risks as well as the overall benefits of the AstraZeneca vaccine for which it is positive.

According to Khairy, Malaysia now still has time to decide whether to proceed with the AstraZeneca vaccine or not as its delivery will be scheduled for May.
