ShopeePay Records 500,000 Claimants For eBelia Programme On First Day

KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 — ShopeePay recorded an overwhelming uptake of about 500,000 claimants for the RM150 e-wallet credit on the first day of the eBelia programme yesterday.

In a statement today, it said the successful claimants not only received RM150 e-wallet credit when they claimed via ShopeePay, but also guaranteed an additional RM500 worth of vouchers, bringing the total benefit up to RM650.

ShopeePay Malaysia head Alain Yee believes the programme would play a bigger role in  simultaneously generating economic activities and sales for local merchants and traders while alleviating the financial burden of Malaysian youths and promoting cashless spending.

“This digital push will be a win for the country’s digital economy,” he said.

Yee said ShopeePay is also working closely with sellers and brands to offer free shipping with RM6 minimum spend, 66 per cent off deals, daily vouchers and more during 6.6 Awesome Sale that ends on June 6 besides the RM500 added benefit provided to eBelia claimants.

In addition to the substantial cash rewards handed out, ShopeePay said the first 20,000 ShopeePay eBelia claimants would receive a supplementary RM5 cashback with a minimum spend of RM10 when they scan any other eWallet or Bank’s DuitNow QR codes to pay.

The eBelia programme is open for registration to Malaysians aged 18 to 20 years in 2021, or full-time students enrolled in courses equivalent to diploma or Malaysian Skills Certificate Level 4 and above at local public and private registered institutions of higher learning.
