The famous Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a series of superhero films produced by Marvel Studios. The films are based on comic books published by Marvel Comics. The franchise also includes TV shows, short films, digital series, and literature.
The movies from Marvel Studios have always been wildly successful at the box office but do you know that Marvel cast members don’t always stick to the script? In fact, a lot of funny lines were improvisation from the cast themselves.
From this movie by Screen Rant, it shows us 15 times Marvel actors went totally off-script:
1) Avengers: Infinity War
During the iconic scene of the Avengers and the Guardian of the Galaxy versus Thanos, Chris Pratt came up with a line, “I thought you’d be so hard to catch. For the record, this is my plan”. It was funny before he completely wrecked the plan that caused Thanos to break free and fight back.
Other than that, another off-script moment can be seen during Captain America and Thor’s reunion after few years. The two Avengers exchanged witty remarks regarding each other’s new looks. The whole thing was totally off-the-cuff but somehow made its way to the final version of Avengers: Infinity War.
2) Deadpool
Something that is expected when Ryan Reynolds is in the scene is ad-libbed. If you ever watched Deadpool, you will remember the Dopinder kidnapping scene in a car. The two characters changed an awkward interaction that ends with Deadpool telling Dopinder that he was proud of him. Shockingly, none of that was written in the script.
3) Black Panther
People might think M’baku’s animalistic shouts during negotiation are intended to show his character as the leader of the Jabari tribe. In fact, they are just improvisation made by Duke himself.
4) The Avengers
A scene where Iron Man made his entrance into the Hellicarrier and the first thing he said out loud was, “that man is playing Galaga!”. He pointed to one of the S.H.I.E.L.D operatives. Tony Stark’s line wasn’t actually in the script but the director wanted the joke to truly hit. It was to an extent where they had to insert an image of the game and its sound effect.
5) Thor: The Dark World
An unscripted moment that didn’t involve any dialogue but a very simple action occurred in Erik Selvig’s apartment. It was the scene where Thor walked in and hang his hammer, Mjölnir on the coat rack by the door. Hemsworth did that action on the spot without any prompting and strangely, the director opts to leave it in to make give the scene a little twist of the funny element.
