Eight Petanque Athletes Fly Malaysia’s Flag In Spain

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 12 — Eight national athletes will spearhead Malaysia’s challenge at the World Petanque Championships in Santa Susanna, Spain, this month.

Nur Durratul Hikmah Yazit, Nur Durratul Iffah Yazit, Nuraza Sening and Nur Syahirah Sabri will take centre stage first as they compete from today to Sunday, according to a statement from the Honorary Secretary of the Malaysian Boules Sports Federation Maya Heng.

Maya also announced that the men’s quartet of Muhammad Danial Syazwan Mohd Noor, Mohd Fadzrul Ismansyah Mohd Faizal, Muhamad Hisyam Mad Sapi @ Mad Sepi and Faizul Pa’ie, will kick in at the competition from Nov 15 to 23.

He said the women’s team left for Spain last Wednesday while the men’s team would go there this Tuesday (Nov 16).

The tournament will be attended by 2,000 athletes from 50 countries.
