Why You Need It? The Importance of Booster Dose For COVID-19 Vaccination

As a lot of people in this country know nowadays, Malaysia has been encouraging all of their citizens to get their own booster dose for COVID-19 vaccination so that the country would have better protection against the Coronavirus that has produced a lot of new variants lately. Unfortunately, some Malaysian citizens are still stubborn about not getting the booster dose because they are still holding strong on some of the ridiculous beliefs that they have heard about.

Little did they know, there are actually so many important reasons why everyone in this particular country should take this booster dose for the COVID-19 vaccination. All of the reasons have been stated by the Ministry of Health Malaysia itself in the infographic statement and have been posted on social media platforms for everyone to know.

Here are the reasons why everyone needs the booster dose for COVID-19 vaccination:

1) To ensure optimal protection against COVID-19.

2) It increases immunity by up to 70% against the Omicron strain.

3) According to the Institute for Clinical Research Malaysia (ICR):

  • Immunity in the fully vaccinated or after 2 doses would drop by 20% over time.
  • For the recipients of the Sinovac vaccine, it drops by 40% after 3-5 months of the 2nd dose.

4) Booster doses can prevent the health system from being overburdened by:
