Tomato Flu Gets Serious In India, Know About The Symptoms And Treatment

Tomato flu is actually a very dangerous and also rare viral disease. To those who might not know, this type of flu surely causes red-colored rashes to appear on the body. Children need to be extra careful with this because children have a higher chance to get it rather than adults. As stated on the India TV News website, symptoms and treatment for it is similar to chikungunya or dengue.

Compared to other countries, India is now known as the place with the most serious cases of Tomato Flu. Up until now, there are in total of four states with reported cases of the severe Tomato Flu. They are indeed Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, and Odisha.

This mentioned flu is actually a form of hand, foot, and mouth disease or better known as HFMD. Other than red-color rashes, some other appearances could also be seen on the skin. For example, skin irritation and also dehydration. Interestingly, the flu gets its name from blisters produced on the skin. The blisters look like tomatoes. Children from 1 to 9 years old are at high risk.

  • Fever
  • Rash with blisters on hands, feet, and buttocks
  • Joint swelling
  • Dehydration
  • Body ache
  • Painful sores in the mouth
  • Skin irritation
  • Stomach pain
  • Fatigue
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea and nausea

Tomato Flu Treatments

  • Kept in isolation because it is highly contagious from one person to the other
  • Given plenty of fluids
  • Hot water sponge to make the rash lessen

All in all, everyone in this whole wide world needs to be extra careful with this type of flu. Make sure your surrounding is always clean by sanitizing them once in a while so that there would be no spread of the flu. Remember, prevention is so better than cure.
