BTS Jin Gifts ARMY With A Heartwarming Goodbye Song, ‘The Astronaut’

BTS Jin released his song, The Astronaut, today at 12 pm KST (or 11 pm EST), before his upcoming military enlistment sometime this year.

The Astronaut is a gift to ARMYs and everyone around the world. Some fans are theorizing that it’s a goodbye song before he bids a temporary farewell to the entertainment industry.

According to a tweet by @seokjinism1, Jin said in his ‘Thanks to’ note, “I always wanted to incorporate my love for ARMY through song, so I am happy that it’s perfectly incorporated (in this song). I love you always, ARMY.”

Coldplay’s Chris Martin and BTS’s Jin geared up to make this song happen. It was the idea of these two talented artists that The Astronaut came to life, with Jin participating in the lyric making.

Martin teased fans with a tweet hours before the official release, and everyone was expectant of another legendary song by the ‘silver voice‘ singer, Jin.

As anticipated, many fans sing praises of Jin’s newest track, saying it’s Oscar-worthy. Well, it definitely is!

A track-back of Jin’s journey as an artist

The Astronaut hides many layers of Jin’s journey as an artist. As many ARMYs have known, it wasn’t Jin’s intention to be a singer. The holder of a degree in Film Studies from Konkuk University wanted to be an actor. However, fate aligned seven stars to unite. Thus, Jin became one of the final line-ups of the biggest boyband in the world, BTS.

The drawing in The Astronaut‘s official music video is similar to a photo of Jin when he was little. And this made millions of ARMYs tear up because of how far he has gone. Many are proud of Jin’s achievements, especially ARMYs and Seokjinnies (Jin’s fandom name).

Jin assures that he landed on a safe ground

Prior to his enlistment, the music video is rich with metaphors of separation, as if it’s a reminder that Jin will soon leave BTS and ARMYs to serve his country.

However, The Astronaut is also rich with hope. ARMYs believe this separation will be bittersweet, and the yearning might be unbearable, but the thought of Jin returning to them someday is assuring.

As painful as it is, Jin assures that it won’t be soon before long.

“You and me, an unending story”

Jin never forgets his members and ARMYs wherever he goes.

Even in the music video, Jin completes the crossword by filling in the boxes with F-A-M-I-L-Y.

In addition, Jin also draws the earth and writes ‘Home’ along with six stars and one sun, symbolising the other BTS members and himself. Isn’t that the sweetest thing ever?
