A tweet by Cookie Monster (@MeCookieMonster) on Friday, 14 October 2022, has shocked many (and yes, many) people around the globe.
Who would have thought Cookie Monster’s Real Name is not— well— Cookie Monster? Yes, no one did! It’s almost impossible to think of other names for this all-time favorite blue character as, we all know, he loves cookies.
But then again, Cookie Monster revealed that his name is Sid, and my oh my, no one expected that coming!
The tweet accumulated around 5 k retweets, 39.2 k likes and 600+ replies, and to no surprise, as everyone on the blue bird app was (and is still) losing it.
Many Twitter users can’t hide their disbelief. Some even felt betrayed because of Cookie Monster, or now, Sid’s real name.
A Twitter user expressed their awe by saying, “I’ve known you for 45 years and am just learning this today. This is amazing.”

Maybe some of us have been missing out on something all these years. In this video, at 0:34, he sings, “In fact, back then, me think me name was Sid.”
Cookie Monster is one of the favored characters from the Sesame Street series. What makes him so adorable and funny is he uses ‘Me’ instead of ‘I’, ‘My’ or ‘Mine’ when he speaks. Although Sesame Street is an educational series to teach children, the irony of Cookie Monster’s character is he didn’t get the fundamentals right. But it’s understandable, at least to some extent, it is.
While others might have a hard time accepting this new-found fact, perhaps it’s a sign for us to start calling Cookie Monster ‘Sid’ from today! Well, hello there, Sid!
