The Queen Honours Prisons Department Creative Awards Ceremony

Last night, The Queen graced the prison staff at the creative awards ceremony. The ceremony was held at Movenpick Hotel & Convention Centre KLIA. Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah granted the Royal Pahang Weave Award to the winner. Besides that, there were also awards for the Songket Category, Batik Category, and Colours Of Nature Category.

The receiver of the Pahang Royal Weave belonged to Mohd Hafiz Izudin, a staff of Penor prison. Moreover, Fadhil Abd Rashid and Masdi Salim won of The Songket Category. Both are the staff of Marang prison.

Besides that, the winners of the Batik Category were Wan Mohd Hafiz and Zulkifli Husein, Pengkalan Chepa prison staff. Meanwhile, Mohd Shahrul Amir Muda and Ahmad Firdaus Mohd Razali won the category of Colours of Nature. They are from Chenor prison.

Other than The Queen, The Ministry of Home Affairs, YB Dato’ Seri Hamzah bin Zainudin and other members of the Ministry of Home Affairs were there to celebrate the ceremony. The Royal Malaysian Police and Malaysian Jail Department were also there.

With the theme of ‘Creativity Preserves Tradition,’ the award was to show appreciation to the inmates and staff involved in weaving workshops. The award ceremony was an initiative to enhance and boost Malaysia’s art heritage through the prison’s recovery program.
