Man Killed, Two Others Injured In Pantai Remis Wild Boar Attack

A man died while two others were injured after being attacked by a wild boar in Jalan Kampung Paya Ara, Pantai Remis here today.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the victim who died, identified as Syaiful Anuar Abdul Wahab, 46, was attacked by the wild boar while he was on his way to his farm.

“Two other men, aged 49 and 60, sustained light injuries while trying to help the victim from being attacked.

“The Pantai Remis Fire and Rescue Department received a call about the incident at 7.05 pm,” the spokesman said in a statement tonight.

Paramedics, upon arriving at the scene, pronounced the victim dead and the body was handed over to the police for further action.

The spokesman said firemen had assisted the police by providing lighting, adding that the wild boar was shot dead shortly after the incident.

How to survive a wild boar attack

Wild boars are native to Malaysia. Moreover, wild boars are very aggressive. When they attack, most of the injuries are cuts and holes. In worst cases, this could cause so much blood loss that the person dies.

As wild boar attacks can potentially be fatal, it’s important for everyone to learn and know how to survive a wild boar attack. Therefore, here are some effective strategies that you can utilize to escape wild boar attack:

1. It’s best to leave the area if you spot a wild boar in the distance.

2. Get as high as you can on a tree if they keep coming at you. They have no ability to scale heights, so if you can get six feet up, you should be safe.

3. Stand your ground and get ready to fight the will boar if there are no trees in the area. Any available weapon will suffice if you don’t have a rifle, knife, or spear. A tripod, bike, shovel, or even a dog leash could fall within this category. Put out your best effort and keep going.

4. Keep moving forward while standing. If you trip and fall, you could get a tusk in the stomach, limbs, head, or neck.

5. To stop the wild boar, you must continue fighting. Typically, attacks last for no more than a minute.

6. You must quickly administer first aid. Aside from the obvious necessity to stop the bleeding, wild boars’ lips carry many potentially dangerous pathogens.
