The study examined 2,700 people infected with monkeypox from early May until the 1st of August, in the United Kingdom. From the examination, ten pairs showed pre-symptomatic transmission. This means that the second person developed monkeypox from the first person, who does not has any symptoms.

From this research, researchers came out with the result where 53% of the infection from monkeypox are developed without any symptom. The virus could already been transmitted four days before a person develop the symptoms.

Nevertheless, Dr. Nachi Arunachalam mentioned that more work is needed to be done to really understand about the pre-symptomatic infection.

In addition, the research also suggests that we can not prevent monkeypox by solely isolating the infected with symptoms. Those who get infected will experience fever, chill, painful lesion, and swollen lymph nodes. Besides that, the symptoms include muscle aches, back pain and fatigue.

Even thought Malaysia is free from monkeypox cases, we should always take safety precaution. Let’s stay free from monkeypox and COVID-19.
