Policeman Dies In Crash On Penang Bridge

A policeman was killed after his motorcycle crashed into the rear of a Projek Penyelenggaraan Lebuh Raya Berhad (PROPEL) vehicle on the Penang Bridge heading towards the island here last midnight.

Corporal Abu Talib Sarif, 33, was believed to have just completed his Ops Cantas duty at Seberang Perai Tengah. And, he was on his way home. Moreover, he died at the scene from serious injuries to his body.

Besides, the body was sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital for post-mortem.

In addition, according to the Penang police, Abu Talib was attached to the D9 unit at the Criminal Investigation Department and the accident occurred at 12.48 am.

“Penang police extend our condolences to the family members of the late Abu Talib. His body is expected to be buried after Zohor prayers in Sungai Petani, Kedah,” the statement said today.

Penang police express their condolences

On PDRM Pulau Pinang’s official Facebook page, they express their condolences to the family members of the late Abu Talib.

“All citizens of the Royal Malaysian Police Penang Contingent express their condolences to all the family members of Allahyarham Kpl 168057 Abu Talib Bin Sarif, 33 years old who returned to Rahmatullah on 08 November 2022 at about 0048hrs because of a road accident at Penang Bridge.

Allahyarham’s last service was as a Corporal of the Special Investigation Division (D9) Criminal Investigation Department, Penang Police Contingent Headquarters. The body will be buried after Zohor prayers in Sungai Petani, Kedah.
