Young Girl Finally Rescued After Nearly Spent Her Entire Life In Captivity

Recently, German authorities rescued a young German girl, age 8, from captivity. Her mother and grandmother allegedly kept her locked up for almost her entire life.

The girl was physically weak “barely able to climb stairs on her own or navigate uneven ground,” according to senior public prosecutor Patrick Baron von Grotthuss.

Moreover, the local prosecutor’s office reported that the mother and the grandmother had imprisoned the young girl in a room in her grandparents’ house. They imprisoned her since she was about one and a half years old.

The girl told medics at the children’s hospital that she had “never seen a forest, been in a meadow or been driven in a car”, according to a local newspaper.

District officials have indicated there is no evidence of physical abuse or malnourishment. However, the young girl is still receiving treatment, “especially with regard to psychological consequences.”

The city of Siegen continues their against the girl’s mother and grandparents for alleged deprivation of liberty and child abuse. In addition, the authorities have put her in a foster home.

For your information, the mother is facing up to 10 years in prison.

The girl’s mother and grandparents have refused to answer police questioning. This leaves prosecutors with no leads as to why they locked up their granddaughter.
