A TikTok user shared their experience encountering an ‘extra seasoning’ in the soy sauce of Sushi King. The video went viral on many social media platforms.
There were a few maggots inside the soy sauce bottle. It was caught on camera by the user.
Sushi King is known to serve freshly made sushi to customers. They also have been Malaysian’s favorite go-to sushi shops for a long time.
However, this incident makes consumers a bit wary of the restaurant’s keenness to the food quality, service and hygiene.
Sushi King quickly apologized
In a Facebook post, the restaurant immediately issued an apology for the inconvenience caused.
In their statement, they said, “We would like to express our deepest regret for the incident that the customer experienced.”
According to them, they have already reached out to the affected customer to clean the air. They also thanked the customer for bringing light to this severe issue.
Additionally, they are also ready to cooperate with the Ministry of Health (MOH) for necessary actions.
They explained, “Food hygiene is a priority to our company policy, and we will not compromise on this matter.”
It is important to maintain and prioritize food hygiene, quality and service in the food industry. It will make or break their business.
Therefore, we hope other food branches in Malaysia will take immediate action once they receive complaints or feedback, as Sushi King did.
