Zahid Hamidi Assures NADMA Is Ready To Help The Flood Victims ASAP This Monsoon Season

Zahid Hamidi, Malaysia’s Vice Prime Minister and the Minister of the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), released a media statement today to address the current issue of the flood that hit multiple states in Malaysia. 

In his statement, Zahid Hamidi assures:

  1. NADMA is ready to help the flood victims as soon as possible. Their level of preparedness is constantly being approved to face current and upcoming disasters, especially at high-risk places. Additionally, the temporary evacuation centre (PPS) is geared toward all needed necessities for the affected victims.
  2. Next, on 19 December, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia) issued a Continuous Rain Warning at a dangerous level. It was updated on 18 December for states like Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang. Also, they released a similar warning (at a severe level) for Perlis, Kedah, Perak and Penang.
  3. The monsoon will continue to hit Malaysia until 25 December. Continuous rain will also happen in the east and north of Peninsular Malaysia. Not only that, but continuous rain targeted at Pahang and Johor begins 21-22 December.

  4. Therefore, Zahid hopes that all assets of disaster management committees (PKTK) for the safety and rescue (SAR) mission are in good shape and sufficient.
  5. To all victims that need immediate help, please call 999 for further assistance.
  6. Additionally, Zahid wishes everyone who is affected by the flood to abide by the instructions given by the authorities. Evacuate the place before the situation worsens. As METMalaysia has released a warning beforehand, they have to be more alert and take immediate action.
  7. Lastly, Zahid also hopes the head of every family will surveil their family’s whereabouts. This is to ensure everyone’s safety and to avoid unwanted incidents from happening.
