Fight The Heatwave And Sickness With A Sip Of Coconut Water

Talk about one of the most delicious drinks: coconut water should be on everybody’s list. It’s relatively easy to find this cool-looking fruit around Malaysia. If you go to sandy beaches, you’ll definitely see this green-coloured fruit close to the sea. Imagine sipping the cold, sweet coconut water under the hot sun. That’s heaven on earth!

Coconut is a versatile fruit. The fruit’s water and flesh can be consumed in many ways. Coconut water can be used in making stocks or soups like tom yum. The flesh is commonly shaved and put into desserts like cake, lempeng and kuih-muih. Delicious!

Because of its versatility, many Malaysians love drinking the juice of this fruit. Not only it’s refreshing and delicious, but it also has many health benefits for your body!

These are the benefits of coconut water

  • Lowers the cholesterol level
  • Regulates body temperature
  • Controls the blood pressure level
  • Releases toxins from the body through urine
  • Supplies electrolytes to maintain hydration
  • High antioxidant
  • Low in calorie

From our experience, our parents and grandparents often advise us to drink it when we’re sick, especially if we have a high fever. Miraculously, after drinking it, we feel cool and vitalised!

Since Malaysia’s weather is unpredictable these days, some might suffer from sicknesses due to the weather change. From hot to cold and vice versa, some might not be too accustomed to the drastic change.

Therefore, if you ever feel ‘seram sejuk’, aside from taking the meds prescribed by the physician, try drinking this cooling and sweet water. You’ll be surprised by the result!
