QSR Brands Contributes Over RM150,000 Benefitting Over 2,500 Muslims Across Two Countries

Aimed at ensuring every Muslim is able to celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha, QSR Brands brought merriment in the form of fresh meat to over 2,500 Asnaf across seven states in Malaysia in addition to one location in Cambodia.

With the contribution of RM155,200 from the Wakalah Fund, the organisation which remains to be the biggest Zakat contributor in Malaysia deployed volunteers across the eight locations to carry out the initiative over a period of three days.

In addition to employees of QSR Brands, the initiative was carried out with the participation of strategic partners including JAKIM for Cambodia, Lembaga Zakat for Kedah and Selangor, Bahagian Zakat and Fitrah for Sabah and Sarawak as well as JAIS for Malacca, among others.

Throughout the period of distribution which started on 16 June 2024, volunteers spent over eight hours daily cutting up fresh beef to be distributed to locals and mosque goers in the states of Sabah, Sarawak, Kedah, Kelantan, Malacca, Johor, Selangor and in Cambodia.

In 2024 alone, QSR Brands has contributed over RM468,887 through its Wakalah fund. Through the fund intended for charitable activities, the organisation’s Halal and Shariah Department have consistently been working on aiding the Asnaf communities across Malaysia.

Distribution of the meat portions to the communities

QSR Brands CEO Nehchal Khanna said “In our last 50 years of being in Malaysia, supporting the underserved communities has become an integral component in our business.

“Whether it is a delicious meal from our brands or a care package assembled by our partners, the contentment that comes from helping those in need is quite unmatched and we hope to continue doing this so that we can ultimately break the vicious cycle of poverty and eradicate hunger,” he said.
