Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Empowers Youth! Survey Reveals Potential for Career Growth and Community Building in Malaysia

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), the popular Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) mobile game, has emerged as more than just a source of entertainment. A recent survey conducted by MLBB revealed the game’s positive influence on Malaysian youth, promoting teamwork, strategic thinking, and career prospects in the burgeoning esports industry.

“We are thrilled to see how MLBB is empowering Malaysian youth beyond the realm of gaming. The survey results highlight the game’s potential to cultivate valuable skills like teamwork, creative problem-solving, and strategic planning, which can be beneficial in various aspects of life,” said Graws, Head of Malaysia Market Publishing team, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

Based on a survey conducted by Content Nation with significant responses coming from the 21-29 age group, the findings demonstrated a strong belief in the potential of MLBB as a springboard for esports careers. More than half of respondents expressed confidence that the game could lead to successful esports careers, showcasing the growing interest in this field. Interestingly, the survey also explored how players manage their gaming time. While nearly half admitted to playing casually whenever free, a dedicated 35.1% set aside specific hours for honing their skills. This highlights the commitment and passion many players possess.

The recent triumph of the Selangor Red Giants (SRG) at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Mid Season Cup (MSC) on July 14th exemplifies the illustrious career opportunity within the esports sphere. Completing the remarkable Cinderella story, SRG emerged victorious, with Ahmad Shahrul Zaman taking home the Grand Finals Most Valuable Player (FMVP) award. The champions received a cool $1 million prize, while the runners-up FCAP secured $500,000.

Beyond personal development, MLBB fosters a sense of community. Over 55% of respondents viewed the game as a relaxing activity, while a substantial 31.8% identified it as a platform to forge new friendships. This underscores the potential of gaming to foster social connections. The survey further delved into the impact of MLBB on teamwork and leadership. Notably, 41% of respondents acknowledged the game’s role in developing these crucial skills, which is transferable beyond the virtual battlefield.

Strategic thinking is another area where MLBB shines. Nearly 80% of respondents believed the game significantly influences MOBA gaming trends, while almost 48% strongly agreed that MLBB enhances creativity and strategic planning abilities. This aligns with the inherent strategic nature of MOBA games.

The burgeoning esports industry presents exciting career opportunities, and the survey reflected this sentiment. Nearly 30% of respondents strongly agreed that MLBB has fostered job creation within the local esports and gaming landscape. With 45% acknowledging some job creation due to MLBB, there’s significant potential for further growth.

Malaysian esports, particularly through MLBB, is buzzing with anticipation for the future. Players are excited about the prospect of more tournaments, community events, and technological advancements in the game. These developments are expected to further energise the local esports scene.

MLBB’s impact goes beyond just competitive play. The industry’s potential for nurturing future talent is also being recognized. Deputy Prime Minister and National TVET Council chairman, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Bin Hamidi sees a clear opportunity to develop a specialised program focused on honing the skills needed for various esports careers. This program could encompass areas such as esports journalism, commentary, broadcast production, team management and coaching, and even event organisation. By creating such a program, Malaysia can empower its youth to not only compete but also thrive in the ever-evolving world of esports.

Encouragingly, almost 75% of respondents credited MLBB with exposing them to new career possibilities in esports and professional gaming. This highlights the game’s role in empowering young Malaysians to pursue their aspirations within the rapidly evolving esports landscape.

The survey demographics provided valuable insights into the player base. Majority of these respondents are within the 21-29 age group, indicating the game’s appeal to young adults. Interestingly, a sizable portion (12%) boasted over a decade of gaming experience, showcasing the presence of seasoned players alongside budding enthusiasts.

“MLBB is committed to nurturing the Malaysian esports scene and supporting the aspirations of young Malaysians. We will continue to develop the game and create opportunities that empower players to reach their full potential,” said Fikri Rizal Mahruddin, Marketing & Business Development Lead, at MOONTON Games.

In conclusion, the MLBB survey underscores the game’s transformative impact on Malaysian youth. By fostering teamwork, strategic thinking, and career opportunities in esports, MLBB empowers players to excel not only within the game but also in various aspects of their lives. As MLBB continues to evolve, its influence on Malaysian society and the esports landscape is certain to grow.
