A Milestone Celebration: 20 Years of the World’s Biggest Duathlon

The highly anticipated POWERMAN Malaysia celebrated its 20th anniversary milestone this year, with OMODA | JAECOO returning as its presenting partner. The illustrious event took centre stage at Dataran Putrajaya from 20 to 22 June 2025, and saw participants traverse the streets of Malaysia’s administrative capital in an intense 3-day sporting spectacle that is the World’s Biggest Duathlon.

POWERMAN Malaysia 2025 by OMODA | JAECOO saw an overwhelming response with over 4,500 participants from 30 countries taking part in an exciting run-bike-run format sporting event, across two distance categories: the Classic distance (10km run, 60km bike and 10km run), and the Short distance (5km run, 30km bike, 5km run), as well as 3 POWERKIDS categories (ages 6 to 15). One of the most inspiring highlights this year was the participation of over 20 children from BikeIsAble, a local initiative that supports children with severe physical disabilities. With the help of caregivers, friends, and family who pushed them in specially adapted buggies, these incredible young athletes crossed the POWERMAN finish line showing the world what determination, inclusion, and community truly look like.

Present at the flag-off for the POWERMAN Classic and Short categories were Y.Bhg Dato’ TPr. Fadlun Bin Mak Ujud, President of Putrajaya Corporation, and Emily Lek, Vice President of OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia. This year, the JAECOO J7 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) served as the duathlon’s official lead car.

With an impressive time of 2:50:59, the first place for the Classic male open category was clinched by Raymund Torio from the Philippines. And Malaysia’s Esther Joy Chen took first place in the Classic female open category with a winning time of 03:11:40.

Jeffrey Ross, General Manager and Race Director of POWERMAN Malaysia said, “This year’s 20th edition of POWERMAN Malaysia marks a significant and meaningful milestone to us. Each year, we see new and familiar faces with their own stories and background. It is spectacular to reflect upon how significantly the event has grown since its inception in 2002, when it started with just 200 participants. And it is very rewarding this year to welcome a massive 40% of participants who are first timers from all over the world! The POWERMAN Malaysia 2025 by OMODA | JAECOO event has brought together camaraderie, sportsmanship, and smiles to thousands of participants as they line the streets of an iconic landmark here in Dataran Putrajaya. The World’s Biggest Duathlon would not have been possible without the support of our presenting partner, OMODA | JAECOO who aligns perfectly with our brand values with their bold and fearless spirit.”

“Our heartfelt congratulations to all POWERMAN and POWERKIDS duathletes. It was a weekend of inspiring feats, witnessing both hobby and elite athletes from all ages and backgrounds put their best foot forward on the run-bike-run course with incredible grit and perseverance. In addition to putting Malaysia on the world map, we are proud that the synergy between POWERMAN Malaysia and OMODA I JAECOO continues to empower a community of sporting enthusiasts to push the limits of mind and body to newer heights,” shared Emily Lek, Vice President of OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia.

The world-class POWERMAN Malaysia 2025 by OMODA | JAECOO and other prominent highlights such as the 3-day expo with a profound lineup of over 50 exhibitors including Kahf – a halal, nature-inspired and high-quality men’s personal care and grooming brand – 100PLUS, Shimano and PURPOSE Performance Wear, made it a must-attend event for those in the running and biking communities.
