Sunway Pyramid Is Now Malaysia’s First SIRIM 55-Certified Mall, Here’s Why Everyone’s Talking About It

If last year was all about upgrading your lifestyle from basic to aesthetic, this year Sunway Malls wants everyone to upgrade to something even better sustainable.

In conjunction with United Nations Day, Sunway Malls launched its national campaign called ‘From This to That’, running from 22 October to 9 November 2025 across all its malls. The idea? To get people to rethink, reuse, and recycle basically to turn our old habits from this… to that.

And here’s the big flex: Sunway Pyramid just became the first shopping mall in Malaysia to receive the prestigious SIRIM 55 certification, marking a major win in the ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) movement. Yup, your favourite mall is now officially sustainability-certified.

To push things even further, Sunway Malls introduced the first-ever Food Digester machine in Malaysia a high-tech system that transforms food waste into eco-friendly liquid. The first unit is already up and running at Sunway Velocity Mall, and will soon arrive at Sunway Pyramid by the end of the year.

On top of that, they’re rolling out other smart green initiatives like Smart Parking Systems, solar panels, Smart Toilets, and a textile recycling program with Kloth Cares. The goal: cut waste, save energy, and make sustainable living feel as natural as scrolling TikTok.

The ‘From This to That’ campaign isn’t just about awareness it’s about action. There’ll be eco weekend bazaars, upcycling workshops, and collabs with green-minded brands like Fipper, Uniqlo, The Body Shop, and Timberland.

And because saving the planet deserves a little reward, Sunway Malls is giving shoppers a chance to redeem exclusive “Wasteless Wonder” gifts:

  • Spend RM150–RM300 (depending on location) and redeem goodies like the Handy Holder (made from recycled plastic), Farm Starter Kit, SDG Tumbler, or even shopping vouchers.
  • If you’re feeling lucky, you could also win a preloved luxury handbag worth RM16,000 and other prizes worth up to RM30,000 in the Treasures & Treats Lucky Draw.

So if you’re planning a chill weekend, maybe drop by a Sunway Mall and join the “From This to That” movement because sometimes, small swaps can make a big difference for the planet.
