UNIQLO Marks 15 Years in Malaysia by Bringing LifeWear Comfort to Over 26,000 Malaysians in Need

Global apparel retailer UNIQLO continues to turn comfort into community care through the second year of its “The Heart of LifeWear” initiative, a global clothing donation programme dedicated to improving everyday life for those most in need.

Running throughout October and November, the initiative reached diverse communities across Malaysia through five key NGO partners, UNHCR (the UN Refugee Agency), Rotary Club of Kuching Central, Malaysia Relief Agency (MRA), Alpro Foundation, and Malaysian Red Crescent Sunflower Centre.

Since its launch in 2024, The Heart of LifeWear has benefited more than 26,000 Malaysians, providing new, high-quality UNIQLO clothing to underserved families and individuals facing hardship. This year alone, 15,500 pieces of UNIQLO AIRism clothing were donated to refugees, longhouse communities in rural Sarawak, flood victims, underserved students, and children with special needs, offering comfort, confidence, and a renewed sense of dignity.

“Clothing may seem simple, but it has the power to restore comfort and dignity,” said Dawn Chow, Director of Sustainability and Corporate PR, UNIQLO Malaysia. “Through The Heart of LifeWear, we hope to share care and hope with communities who need it most.”

The initiative carries special significance this year as UNIQLO Malaysia marks its 15th anniversary. From opening its very first store in 2010 to now having a nationwide presence, the company continues to deepen its connection with Malaysians, not just through fashion, but through consistent community support.

For many recipients, the impact of the programme goes beyond physical comfort.

“We rarely get the chance to receive clothing of this quality,” shared a mother from the Jakun tribe in Kg. Peta, who received AIRism clothing via MRA Johor. “This gesture of kindness means so much to our families. It truly warms our hearts.”

Taskiah, a student from the Rohingya Education Centre Gombak, said: “This experience reminds me how powerful kindness can be. I want to study hard, build a better future, and one day help others just like UNIQLO helped us.”

The Heart of LifeWear forms part of UNIQLO’s global commitment to donate one million pieces of clothing worldwide, underscoring the belief that LifeWear is more than just apparel, it is a way to enhance everyday life through comfort, thoughtfulness, and care.

The initiative continues to grow in reach each year, expanding into communities that need support the most.
