Southeast Asia’s First TOMICA Brand Store Opens in KL Bringing Japan’s Iconic Miniature Cars to Suria KLCC

The world of TOMICA has officially arrived in Malaysia, with the launch of Southeast Asia’s first TOMICA Brand Store located inside the Toys“R”Us IP Flagship Collection Store at Suria KLCC. Opened by Japan’s TOMY Company, Ltd. in partnership with Toys“R”Us Asia, the new outlet marks the brand’s third dedicated store outside Japan, following openings in Shanghai (2024) and Beijing (2025).

Situated on Level 2 (LC 203, Ramlee Mall), the shop-in-shop concept is designed as both an immersive retail destination and an information hub for TOMICA fans of all ages. Visitors are welcomed by a storefront shaped like an oversized TOMICA box, setting the stage for an experience that fully embodies the brand’s longstanding philosophy: “Only the Real Thing Moves.”

Inside, the store features several signature attractions, including the Wheel Table made of stacked TOMICA wheels; the TOMICA Wall showcasing more than 2,000 diecast miniature cars; a TOMICA Kidults Area for grown-up collectors; a Recommended Corner spotlighting the latest releases; and a TOMICA History Area chronicling the evolution of the beloved brand.

First launched in 1970 as Japan’s pioneering palm-sized diecast car series, TOMICA has since released over 10,000 models, with total sales surpassing one billion units as of December 2024. The new store aims to bring that legacy closer to Malaysian fans while strengthening its presence across Asia.

The launch was attended by key representatives from TOMY Company and its regional partners:

  • Saitoh Katsunori, Senior General Manager, Head of Asia Strategy Division, TOMY Company
  • Ochiai Kiyoshi, Managing Director, TOMY ASIA
  • Hisayama Itaru, Team Manager, TOMICA Division
  • Tan Ee Chian, Executive Director, Litt Tak Sdn Bhd (official distributor of TOMICA in Malaysia)
  • Carol Chua, General Manager, Toys“R”Us (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd

“This store is a must-visit showcase and experiential hub, especially as we celebrate TOMICA’s 55th Anniversary this year,” said Ochiai Kiyoshi, Managing Director of TOMY ASIA. “We plan to continue expanding our network across Asia to reach more fans worldwide.”

Echoing this milestone, Tan Ee Chian of Litt Tak said the new store represents a major step in deepening TOMICA’s bond with Malaysian collectors, especially after 40 years of partnership. Carol Chua of Toys“R”Us Malaysia added that having TOMICA anchor the KLCC flagship enhances the entire retail concept, creating a true destination for families, fans and collectors.

To mark the opening, two original TOMICA Brand Store products will be available exclusively at this KLCC location. Shoppers can also look forward to special launch promotions, branded giveaways, Mosaic Art activities, and the White Tomica Colouring zone. Fans will also get a chance to meet TOMICA’s mascot, T-KUN, with meet-and-greet sessions happening three times daily from 18 to 21 December 2025.
