Train Like a Pro, Play Smarter: Garmin Launches the Approach G82 in Malaysia

Garmin Malaysia just raised the bar for golf tech with the Approach G82, a smart launch monitor and GPS handheld that feels more like a personal coach than a gadget.

Whether you’re practicing at the range or playing a full round, this device helps you fine-tune your swing, improve your putting, and make smarter decisions on the course.

It’s the kind of tool that makes you feel like you’re preparing for a pro tournament, even if you’re just out for a casual game with friends.

A Bigger Screen, Better Visibility

Once you tee off, the 5-inch high-resolution touchscreen becomes your main hub. It displays clear, detailed stats and maps, and brings more than 43,000 preloaded courses to life.

If you have a Garmin Golf membership, you also get aerial imagery that shows you a real, photographic view of your next shot.

It’s like having a virtual caddie in your hands.

A Smart Warm-Up and a Strong Game Companion

“We’re excited to introduce the Approach G82,” said Scoppen Lin, Assistant General Manager, Garmin Asia.

“With our largest handheld display yet, it’s easier than ever to see your metrics and understand the course. The G82 is the ultimate warm-up tool and also works as an intuitive on-course assistant. And for the first time, it brings metrics to a handheld device, so players can improve every part of their game.”

Train Smarter, Not Harder

Whether you’re working on your driving or your putting, the Approach G82 offers tools designed to help you improve:

  • Launch Monitor: The built-in radar gives you key swing data like ball speed, club speed, smash factor, and tempo, so you can adjust your swing right away at the range.
  • Putting Metrics: This is where the G82 really stands out. It’s the only handheld device that tracks putting stats like stroke length, tempo, club speed, and ball speed, helping you build consistency on the green.
  • Bag Mapping: You can record how far each club really goes. This data feeds into the virtual caddie, so you can make better decisions during your round.
  • Target Practice: Set a distance target and challenge yourself to land shots within the ideal range. It turns practice into a game.
  • Tempo and Club Speed Training: Work on your swing timing and measure club speed, even without hitting a ball, using training aids.

On the Course, It Helps You Play Smarter

The Approach G82 is designed to give you an advantage during your round:

  • Virtual Caddie
  • Get club suggestions based on your swing data, wind, elevation, and hazards.
  • Enhanced Plays Like Distance
  • Know exactly how far your shots are playing, adjusted for elevation and conditions.
  • Aerial Imagery and Green Contours
  • With a Garmin Golf membership, you can view photographic images of each hole and see the slope direction on greens.
  • Automatic Shot Detection
Garmin
  • Pair it with Approach CT10 sensors for automatic game tracking and uploads to the Garmin Golf app.
  • Range Relay
  • Sync it with a compatible Garmin laser rangefinder for precise flag distances.
  • Connected Features
  • Get wind updates, automatic course updates, and the Find My Garmin feature when connected to your phone.
  • Magnetic Mounting
  • It snaps onto your cart or clips onto your bag easily, so you can focus on your game.

Built for Real Life

The Approach G82 is built to handle any weather with an IPX7 water rating, so you can play rain or shine. It also offers up to 25 hours of battery life in GPS mode and 8 hours in radar mode, so it lasts through your longest rounds.

Starting 4 February 2026, the Approach G82 will be available for RM2,699 on Garmin Malaysia’s official website, as well as on Shopee, Lazada, AECO e-store, Garmin Brand Stores, MST Golf stores, and all authorized retailers.
