“5 Bomoh” Brings Laughter With A Twist, When Desperation Meets Deception

What happens when all solutions seem to fail, and hope begins to fade? For some, the answer lies in the most unexpected places, even in the hands of bomohs.

This idea forms the backbone of “5 Bomoh”, a new Malaysian comedy film directed by Syed Fariz, which officially hits cinemas nationwide starting today.

Blending humour with social commentary, the film explores a reality familiar to many. The tendency to seek quick fixes when faced with life’s challenges sometimes at the risk of falling into deception.

Produced by Global Station Sdn Bhd, distributed by Skop Productions, and marketed by Primeworks Studios, “5 Bomoh” features a star-studded cast including Aaron Aziz, Scha Alyahya, Khairy Jamaluddin, Ungku Hariz, Tiara Rose, Afdlin Shauki, Johan, Amy Search, Aedy Ashraf and Ozlynn Waty.

The story follows Rashdan, a businessman who strongly believes in traditional superstitions, in contrast to his wife Sakinah, who values faith, education and rational thinking. Their clash of beliefs intensifies when their daughter, Nisa, fails to achieve excellent results in her SPM trial exams.

Driven by his ambition to see his daughter succeed, Rashdan embarks on a journey across the country. Consulting various bomohs believed to possess extraordinary powers. However, instead of finding solutions, the family is confronted with a series of scams that expose greed and manipulation hidden behind blind faith.

According to Syed Fariz, the film is more than just a comedy; it is a reflection of society. Through humour, it highlights how people often chase shortcuts to success. Forgetting that effort, knowledge and prayer remain the true foundations of achievement.

Beyond its comedic elements, “5 Bomoh” also touches on family dynamics, parental pressure, and the human tendency. It is to seek instant answers during difficult times. The film promises a light yet meaningful viewing experience suitable for audiences of all ages.
