Subang Jaya, 8 June 2026 – Taylor’s Education Group (TEG) brought sustainability to life through a conversation-driven dining experience at its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Festival 6.0, where dialogue, food, and immersive storytelling came together under the theme “Food for Thought”.
Guided by the provocation, “Are We Solving the Right Problem”, the experience reframed sustainability discussions beyond traditional panel formats, creating a shared space where ideas were explored through multi-sensory engagement and lived experience.
The platform brought together leaders from governance, finance, urban development, sustainability and social impact sectors to reflect on how ESG is being translated into practice across industries, and whether current efforts are creating meaningful environmental and social impact, or simply improving how these issues are reported.
Conversations explored the role of developers in shaping sustainable communities and whether sustainability is genuinely integrated into design and business models, alongside the importance of board-level accountability in driving real ESG outcomes.
Speakers included Ong Jee Lian, Group Chief Sustainability & Communications Officer of Gamuda Berhad, Datin Seri Sunita Rajakumar, Founder and Chairperson of Climate Governance Malaysia, Anita Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan MySDG, and Bea Camacho, Director of IDEO Consulting Southeast Asia.
The session was moderated by Professor Dr Ong Kian Ming, adjunct professor at Taylor’s University.
Held at Taylor’s Lakeside Campus and co-hosted with Gamuda Berhad, the festival brought sustainability to life through immersive and community-driven experiences. Participants engaged in an upcycled dining experience in collaboration with Saving Graze, a Malaysian social enterprise championing rescued ingredients and repurposed meals, highlighting sustainability through conscious consumption and food preservation.
The festival also featured a closed-door youth dialogue addressing climate anxiety, economic uncertainty, and evolving career pathways, alongside an immersive storytelling and music performance by refugee participants in collaboration with Taylor’s University School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Complementing this was a waste-to-fashion showcase by refugee participants and The Design School at Taylor’s University under the Denim Project, demonstrating how sustainability, creativity, and social inclusion can come together as platforms for empowerment.

For Taylor’s Education Group, the platform forms part of a broader sustainability direction across its 11 operating divisions in Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam, spanning higher education, K-12 schools and properties.
The Group continues to strengthen ESG integration across leadership, governance, campus operations and institutional culture, while also building internal ESG governance and data capabilities ahead of Malaysia’s National Sustainability Reporting Framework requirements.
The conversations and themes explored throughout the festival also reflect the increasing importance of integrating sustainability into the way communities live, learn and develop.
In line with this broader direction, Taylor’s Education Group and Gamuda Land have collaborated through the establishment of Lexel International School to address the growing demand for affordable, future-focused international education.
Lexel International School opened its first campus at Gamuda Gardens last year, exceeding 115% of its inaugural enrolment target within its first year. A second campus is scheduled to open at Gamuda Cove this September, extending access to more families.
