Resorts World Kijal Celebrates 30 Years with Beachfront Festival and Turtle Conservation Push

Resorts World Kijal is marking three decades of East Coast hospitality with the launch of its 30th Anniversary Festival, taking place from 28 to 30 August 2026. The three-day event brings together live entertainment, local culinary showcases, and family activities to celebrate the resort’s history alongside the natural heritage of Terengganu.

Officiated on 28 August, the festival will feature cultural performances and a symbolic release of baby turtles on Kijal Beach, setting the tone for a weekend anchored in local community and environmental stewardship.

30 Years of Coastal Hospitality

Originally established in 1996 as Awana Kijal, the beachfront property has evolved into one of Terengganu’s primary coastal destinations. The 30th-anniversary event highlights this history by pairing the resort’s beachfront setting with regional cultural showcases.

Visitors can expect:

  • Cultural & Live Entertainment: Traditional dance, gamelan, and silat performances alongside local buskers and evening fire shows.
  • Local Culinary & Craft Markets: Live cooking demonstrations, local Terengganu delicacies, coffee booths, and artisan stalls featuring handmade crafts, batik, and wellness products.
  • Family Activities: A Turtle Fun Run, Sukan Rakyat (traditional sports), a petting zoo, and a grand fireworks display on the final night.

Spotlighting Marine Conservation

Located along a critical nesting ground for Green and Hawksbill turtles, Resorts World Kijal is incorporating environmental awareness directly into the anniversary programming. Attendees can participate in daily baby turtle releases, beach clean-ups, tree planting, and sustainability workshops.

For guests seeking an extended experience, the resort is offering the Be A Seaturtle Superhero staycation package through 31 October 2026. Priced at RM740 for Genting Rewards Card members and RM800 for non-members, the 3D2N package includes accommodation in a Premier Seaview Room, daily breakfast buffet, and a guided baby turtle release on the resort’s private beach.
