ASICS Malaysia Serves Up Fun and Community Spirit for World Pickleball Day

In conjunction with World Pickleball Day on 10 October, ASICS Malaysia hosted a social gathering at Tomaz Pickleball Court, Subang Jaya.

The event brought together pickleball enthusiasts of different ages and backgrounds for friendly matches and community bonding. It also highlighted ASICS’ commitment to inclusive sports and its founding philosophy of Sound Mind, Sound Body.

The session opened with ASICS ambassador Hariz Hamdan, who highlighted the brand’s support for active lifestyles. He also celebrated pickleball’s inclusive spirit and its ability to connect people through sport.

Boon Tib Soom Nik, Country Manager of ASICS Malaysia, said, “Pickleball reflects a more inclusive, community-driven approach to sport, bringing people of all ages and abilities, from children to seasoned athletes, together on the court.

“Beyond gameplay, it encourages social connection and community bonding, with its doubles format and compact court giving players plenty of chances to interact and enjoy the game together.”

He added, “At ASICS, supporting this community remains a key priority, not only through performance innovation, but also by ensuring every player feels confident and comfortable on court with every step.”

Families and Celebrities Embrace the Sport

Participants experienced how ASICS technology supports comfort, stability and confidence on court. Dedicated sessions also showcased ASICS apparel and footwear during gameplay.

Malaysian actress Yasmin Hani Richardson joined the event with her son, Noah Ismail Wong, the youngest player on court.

Yasmin expressed pride in Noah’s performance against adult players. She also shared their passion for pickleball and padel, describing sports as a meaningful way to bond.

“Sports have become our way to bond, through conversation, playing together and cheering each other on. It’s never a boring routine,” she said.

Noah shared his dream of becoming a professional pickleball player. He enjoys learning from adult players, studying their techniques and adapting his game.

“For now, I want to keep learning, meet more people who share the same passion, try different paddles and venues, and take part in more tournaments to gain experience,” he said.

Their participation reflects pickleball’s growing appeal among families and lifestyle communities seeking fun, accessible ways to stay active.

Celebrity couple Intan Ladyana and Harris Alif also joined the session. They enjoyed bonding through sport and staying active together.

Playing alongside familiar faces made the experience more relaxed and enjoyable. The couple also experienced the comfort and support of ASICS apparel and footwear.

Aifa Azman Tries a New Sport

The gathering also welcomed professional squash player Aifa Azman, who recently contributed to Malaysia’s squash success at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.

Aifa showcased her court precision through backhand volley drops and kill shots. She also embraced the opportunity to learn a new sport.

“Everyone was so supportive and willing to teach me the different techniques,” she said.

“Playing women’s doubles was a great learning experience, as the ball behaves differently from the rubber ball used in squash, and pickleball also involves techniques such as topspin. I learned a lot from the other players today, and it was great to try something new.”

Aifa is now preparing for her next tournament, the US Open. She aims to break into the world’s top 20 while continuing to explore new sporting experiences.

Friendly Competition Ends the Morning

The gathering concluded with a friendly doubles competition. Winning pairs received ASICS merchandise for their performances.

Lilian Tan and Gracey PB secured first place, followed by Atita Haris and Fad Anuar in second. Emelda Rosemila and Adlin Aman Ramlie finished third.
