Good news for Sarawakians who love affordable home finds! IKEA Malaysia is bringing its iconic shopping experience to Kuching for the first time, with IKEA Kuching set to open on 27 November 2026 at Pines Mall, Batu Kawa.
Although smaller than IKEA’s familiar full-sized stores, IKEA Kuching will offer around 5,000 home furnishing articles, along with selected furniture and accessories that customers can take home on the same day.
The opening marks IKEA Malaysia’s first small-format store, giving customers in Sarawak a more convenient way to shop for home furnishing essentials without travelling to Peninsular Malaysia.
Same IKEA Prices, Now in Sarawak
One of the biggest highlights of the new store is that customers in Sarawak can enjoy the same IKEA prices as shoppers in Peninsular Malaysia, without an additional East Malaysia price premium on goods and services.
From everyday essentials to furniture for a complete home makeover, the store aims to make functional and affordable home furnishing more accessible to Sarawakians.
Customers can explore products for different areas of the home, including living rooms, bedrooms, dining spaces, kitchens, storage and children’s rooms.
IKEA Favourites You Can Shop For
Despite its compact format, IKEA Kuching will feature a selection of familiar IKEA favourites, including:
- SKOGSTA dining table
- KALLAX shelving unit
- POÄNG armchair
- NIPÅSEN bench
- BILLY bookcase
- IKEA 365+ range
Customers can also access a wider selection of around 5,000 articles for ordering, collection or home delivery, making it easier to find suitable options for different spaces and budgets.
For those planning a bigger home refresh, the store will also provide home furnishing expertise and planning support to help customers turn their ideas into practical solutions.
Yes, IKEA Meatballs and Hot Dogs Are Coming Too
What’s an IKEA visit without its food favourites? IKEA Kuching will introduce a grab-and-go IKEA Food experience, allowing shoppers to pick up familiar treats while browsing the store.
Customers can look forward to IKEA meatballs, curry puffs, hot dogs and soft serve, alongside a selection of Swedish food products to bring home.
While the new store will have a different layout from IKEA’s larger outlets, it aims to retain the familiar combination of home furnishing inspiration, affordable products and food that shoppers have come to associate with the brand.
Join IKEA Family for More Perks
Shoppers can also sign up for IKEA Family, the retailer’s loyalty programme, to access member benefits, selected offers and experiences throughout the year.
The programme will be integrated into the IKEA Kuching shopping experience, giving members more ways to enjoy their visits.
