Families of MH17 (Malaysian Airlines Flight 17) victims held a silent protest in front of the Russian Embassy at The Hague, Netherlands on Sunday disappointed by Russia’s refusal to cooperate in the investigation of the tragedy.
At the protest, they placed 298 white chairs. Each chair represents the number of people who have died in the MH17 tragic incidents. According to President of the MH17 Victims’ Association Piet Ploeg,
“This is for me a very beautiful symbol for 298 people who perished. They are gone. My brother never returned,” Said Ploeg who also lost his brother, Alex in the incidents.
He added, “The idea of the action is to make clear to the Russian state that they have to cooperate with the investigation”.
The flights(MH17) from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was reported to have been shot down by a missile while it was flying in regional airspace controlled by separatist rebels on July 17, 2014.
The protest took place the night before a hearing at The Hague Den Haag where three Russians and one Ukrainian were indicted for the killings. Russia, however, denied their involvement in the tragedy.
