New Zealand has been hit by a 6.0 magnitude earthquake that happens yesterday morning. The earthquake was felt by the people in South Island, near the popular tourist destination that is Milford Sound.
It is reported that more than 3,000 people feels a strong tremor. Some of them even feels as far away as Wellington, on the lower North Island.
As told by the Southland District councillor Ebel Kremer, no property damage has been reported at this time.
According to 9news, the quake was happen 35 kilometres west of Milford Sound, and just five kilometres underwater.
Not just New Zealand, these past weeks also shows many earthquake that happen around the world. Below are the list of eartquake that reported by U.S. Geological Survey.
Starting on June 19, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake was happen 132 km from Fiji.
As reported by U.S. Geological Survey, on June 21 a 5.7 magnitude earthquake happen on Dalvik, Iceland while another earthquake with 4.2 magnitude struck at Perry, Oklahoma, USA.
The next day on June 22, Dalvik was hit by another earthquake with a 6.0 magnitude. Then, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake happen 6 km from Farkawn, Mizoram, India. Three countries was affected by the earthquake that is Bangladesh, India, and Myanmar.
On June 23, Gorontalo City, Gorontalo, Indonesia have an earthquake with a 5.9 magnitude. On the same day, Mexico was also hit by an earthquake 7.4 magnitude. It happens at 31 km from San Miguel del Puerto, Oaxaca, Mexico.
A 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck 38 km from Rota Island on June 24 and it also affected nearest country that is Guam and Northern Mariana Islands.
For now on today that is June 25, there are two places that was hit by an earthquake. First are the 5.8 magnitude earthquake that happens on 19 km from Lone Pine, California, USA. Another earthquake also happen minutes later but it is 20 km from Lone Pine. In Japan, a 5.9 magnitude earthquake.
