Does Eating Alone Help You Lose Weight?

Losing weight is one thing that might be difficult for some people to do. Various methods are usually done, such as exercise, regulate food ingredients to be consumed, to a strict diet.

But, it turns out there is an easy way to lose weight that might not have been thought of, it is breakfast or eating alone. How could that be?

A study found that people will tend to eat more when doing it together. Quoted from the Times of India, this is because it is influenced by food choices from the circle of friends, so that makes you unconscious of eating more than when alone.

In this study, the researchers evaluated 42 studies that had been conducted on social dining. They found that people would eat more time with loved ones because they enjoyed their time together. Increases consumption of food called ‘social facilitation’.

“However, this ‘social facilitation’ is not uncommon when eating with strangers. This is because people want to make a positive impression in front of strangers by consuming lower amounts of food,” the study wrote.

In addition, this research also reveals how our food choices can be influenced by anyone who is with us, both friends and family. Not only does it encourage us to choose foods that are less healthy, but make the portions we eat also more than usual.
