Private Schools Must Not Take Advantage By Collecting Fees When Not Operating – Ismail Sabri

Private schools were advised to not taking advantage of school fees when not in operation.

As said by Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, any school that does not doing services or operation should not demand payment.

“The school is still closed. Since it is still closed, of course the teachers at the school do not even teach. So there is no operation cost for the school.”

“They don’t pay the teachers, they don’t pay the staff and so on, so why should parents whose children does not learn have to pay half the fee?” he said in the Daily Press Conference on Movement Control (PKP), today.

Ismail said this in response to reporters’ concerns about the issue of some private schools getting government assistance to charge students fees even when they were not operating.

Obviously, the issue should not have happened, and many people in financial problems at this time.

“I understand that the school may be in financial difficulties. But schools also need to understand that parents are also facing the same problem.”

“So I hope that schools like this does not take advantage in forcing parents to pay fees even if their children are still not at school,” he said.
